Why live outside of the city?
Aside from the obvious benefits of quieter and more relaxed lifestyle, there are some additional benefits where real estate is concerned.
Depending on the rural subdivision you are living in, the cost per square foot of home and land may be more reasonably priced than living within the city limits.
Lot sizes generally are larger – usually 5 or more acres per parcel.
Property taxes may be more modest than in the city, but usually because there are fewer city benefits like paved roads, sidewalks, etc.

The further away from the city you get, the chances of having city utility services may be reduced. If water quality is important to you, and it should be, you’ll want to make sure to check into utility services in a subdivision you’re interested in.
Saskatchewan is well known for it’s inclement weather during the winter months. As hale and hardy residents we don’t let a little snow get us down. Still, take the winter road conditions into consideration when looking at rural subdivisions.
